Short answer: your latest order date is the day stock must be in your Serbian warehouse, minus seven stages, from sample approval to the inland leg, and a buffer. This guide sets out the tile import timeline for Serbia stage by stage, what to lock early with a Morbi manufacturer, and a calendar to copy for 2027 projects.
Belgrade has a date that will not move. Specialised Expo 2027 runs from 15 May to 15 August 2027 under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”, and the organiser projects more than four million visits. 140 international participants had confirmed by 30 June 2026, and pavilion keys are planned to reach participants by 1 December 2026. We are not claiming the Expo on its own will move distributor sales. It is a visible deadline, and projects built to be finished or open around it work back from the same few months. The wider pipeline is steady rather than surging: Serbia issued 2,751 building permits in July 2026, up 8.6% year on year, then 2,443 in August, down 3.9%, according to Trading Economics.
So the practical question is this: if you need porcelain on your shelf for 2027 projects, when does the order have to go in? The answer comes from working backward from the day stock must be in your warehouse.
Your tile import timeline for Serbia has seven stages plus a buffer, and your order date is what is left after you subtract all of them from your warehouse date. Fill the durations with your supplier before you commit to a project date.

The arithmetic: order date = warehouse date, minus stages 1 to 7, minus the buffer.
Worked example:Worked example: if you need stock in your warehouse by the end of April 2027, your firm order, with the advance paid, has to go in by late January 2027. That counts production (15 days), loading and documents (1 week), sea transit (up to 50 days), clearance (up to 7 days), the inland leg (up to 7 days) and an 8-day buffer, 94 days in all. Samples take 15 days to reach you, so request them before that date, and leave extra time for your own approval.
Stages 1 and 2 are your decisions, so preparation shortens them. Stages 5 to 7 sit with carriers, brokers and hauliers, so that is where the buffer earns its place.
Most timelines slip before a single tile is pressed. The first two stages wait on your decisions, so the fastest way to shorten the whole plan is to arrive at them ready.
Wolf makes 11 sizes in three tiers from one factory, so a distributor can cover a project range without splitting the order across suppliers.
You can browse the current collections and request samples for approval. Wolf’s sample route, from request to samples in hand, takes about 15 days, depending on your location.
Still deciding which formats to carry? Our guide to the best porcelain tiles to stock in Serbia covers that choice; this guide assumes the range is settled.
Plan in units of one 20ft container. It is a quantity a distributor can sell through, and it keeps the reorder decision clear: one container on the shelf, the next one booked behind it.
Porcelain is dense, so weight, not volume, often sets how much fits in a 20ft, and the square metres you get depend on the size and thickness you choose. Our container loading guide explains how fill works by format, so we will not repeat it here.
What matters for your timeline is that the production slot and the loading date are linked. The Morbi tile production lead time starts once size, finish and shade are locked and the factory schedules the run. The container is then packed and trucked to Mundra Port for export. Before you order, Wolf shares an approximate m² per 20ft for your chosen sizes, close to the final figure. The exact m² is stated in the loading document, because it depends on how the container is loaded and on tile thickness.
Wolf containers always load at Mundra Port. Serbia has no sea coast, so every container from India lands at a transit port and travels on by road or rail. Our guide to importing porcelain tiles from India to Serbia compares the gateways; this section covers where the clock usually runs over.
A buyer asking for the rok isporuke pločica iz Indije (“delivery term for tiles from India”) usually wants a single number. In practice, the sea leg tends to be the most predictable part. Delays come from the handovers around it:
Send the draft document set to your broker before the container leaves Mundra Port. It is the simplest way to take days out of stage 6.
Plan the second container while the first is still at sea. If your first 20ft sells faster than expected and the second is only ordered then, it arrives after the shelf is empty.
Set the reorder point in stock, not on the calendar: weekly sell-through multiplied by the full lead time from your table, plus the buffer. When the first container falls to that level, the next order goes in. Three rules keep the plan honest:
Put each container on one line of this grid: when you decide, when you order, when it lands and when you reorder. Copy it into your own planner and fill it from the timeline table above.

A useful check: mark 15 May 2027, the Expo opening, in the Q2 column. If your first container for projects tied to that window lands after it, the plan needs to start earlier.

A timeline only works if your supplier plans with the same dates. As your export partner from Morbi, Wolf builds the order around your warehouse date, not the factory’s convenience:
The tile import timeline for Serbia typically runs 40 to 50 from confirmed order to warehouse, once Export Sales confirms the stage durations. That total is made of production, loading and export documents at the Indian port, sea transit, transit-port handling and Serbian customs clearance, the inland leg and a buffer for delays.
Work back from the delivery date you need. Subtract the inland leg, port and customs clearance, sea transit, loading and documents, the production run and sample approval, then subtract a buffer as well. Whatever date remains is your latest order date.
A Specialised Expo held in Belgrade, on a site in Surčin, from 15 May to 15 August 2027. Its theme is "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All". The organiser projects more than four million visits, and 140 international participants had confirmed by 30 June 2026.
Not by size, but you can mix designs. A 20ft is loaded with one tile size, and you can add 3 to 4 designs in that size within a single container order. If a project needs several sizes, plan one container per size. Weight limits still apply.
